Technomar is recognized as one of the principal executers of maneuverability simulations for ports, rivers and offshore installations, accumulating a history of more than 200 projects for large Brazilian companies. Our services are carried out in the advanced TMS software (Technomar Maritime Simulator), a platform developed internally with class A certification from the DNV.

TMS is equipped with hydro-dynamic models that precisely capture the behavior of vessels, along with detailed port environment 3D scenarios. This combination offers a level of realism that allows for faithful simulation of the maneuvers required to serve the specific needs of each client. Our projects cover a wide range of objectives, including improvements and innovations in port infrastructure, expansion or construction of new terminals and the execution of maneuvers in critical conditions. The developed projects meet the Normam 303 (Works and Related Activities in Waters under Brazilian Jurisdiction).

Technomar operates a proprietary Simulations and Training center in São Paulo, in Pinheiros, where we conduct simulation sessions involving the technical teams and naval commanders (captains/pilots). Apart from this, we can carry out projects in other simulators installed throughout Brazil.

Services provided by Technomar, in accordance with the guidelines established by NORMAM and from internationally recognized agents are as follow:

Projects by norms and regulations

By means of recommendations from PIANC (The World Association for Waterborne Transport Infrastructure) and other specialized international institutions, the requirements of the port operation is determined and a conceptual project is then created, with the horizontal dimensions (width and length of the access channel and geometry of the turning basin) and vertical dimensions (depth of channel, turning basin and berth).

Fast-time Simulations

Simulation of vessel handled by use of automatic pilot, a stage that considers with greater precision the influence of environmental conditions and the use of tug-boats and ship propulsion thrusters, in a way that makes it possible to foresee dynamic factors of each manoeuver, which are incorporated into the evaluation. This simulation allows for greater precision in the results regarding the horizontal and vertical dimensions and in relation to dynamic behavior.

Real-time Simulations

The simulation is the construction of a virtual environment with hydro-dynamically calibrated vessels, a port scenario (or of a river or offshore platform) with all the realism in 3D and the environmental conditions of the location, such as wind, current, etc. In this virtual scenario, constructed inside the TMS simulator, captains and pilots can carry out the necessary maneuvers, covering a wide range of situations so as to prevent risk events. After the successful conclusion of the maneuvers in these determined conditions, a report with conclusions is issued.

Beacon Marker project

Once the nautical configuration has been tested, the nautical signage is made, in which the positions of each navigational aid is defined, indicating of the type of signage, floating (buoys or articulated buoys) or fixed (beacons, lights, alignment), as well as dimensions (height and

width of the position), colors, illumination and visual reach. After these definitions have been made, the necessary documents are then prepared so that the process may be filed with the Naval Authorities in order to ratify and authorize the nautical signage, in compliance with the definitions of NORMAM.

Risk Analysis

Complete description of the operation that guides the analysis, with all phases of the operation and the definition of the necessary resources for the operation. During the process, the dangers involved in the operation are identified, based on previous or similar operations, allowing the work group to evaluate the frequency and severity of the consequences of such dangers.

Through the cross-referencing between frequency and severity, the level of risk may be determined, and recommendations can be made so that the operation can be run with an acceptable level of risk and with knowledge of the measures and necessary actions required in order to mitigate any danger and reduce the impact of operations for the company, the community and the environment.

Documentation for the Brazilian Naval Authorities

Technomar generates the necessary documentation for bureaucracy required by the Brazilian Naval Authority (Marinha do Brasil), such as the ratification of operations and works authorizations.
