DESIGN OF FLOATING SYSTEMS
Development of conceptual projects of floating systems such as platforms and ships. Optimization of structures (hull shape, length, breadth and draft, weight distribution, etc.) to minimize their response due to wind, wave, and current.
DP – DYNAMIC POSITIONING
Analysis of DP vessels operational capacity (capability plots). Time-domain simulations of complex offshore operations under various environmental conditions.
Design and analysis of vessel mooring systems offshore and in ports. Time and frequency domain simulations.
CFD (COMPUTATIONAL FLUID DYNAMICS)
Numerical models to solve hydrodynamic problems based on panel and finite element methods. Aplication examples: ship aero/hydrodynamic drag coefficients in STS configuration, optimization of ship hull, etc.
Analysis and determination of installation windows. Time-domain simulations for determination of global loads.
EXPERIMENTS IN REDUCED SCALE
Development of testing in model basin, since planning, model manufacture, execution, and data analysis.
Seakeeping analysis using numerical simulations to assess floating system response (motions and accelerations) that affects crew comfort, equipment operating limits, structural load and operational downtime.
Intact and damaged stability analysis of floating structures.
